Why buy a Bach from Kessler & Sons Music? So why would you want to buy your Bach from Kessler & Sons Music instead of any of the other retailers out there? Sure, we have competitive pricing as do many dealers. You might even be able to find a better price. So why buy from us? Quality Control Bach really is back to building some of the world's best trumpets. However, as we every musical instrument, there is a difference from horn to horn. Sometimes it is a subtle nuance differnece and other times, it is a rather drastic difference. When you make as many horns as Bach has to make, these things are inevitable. Many retailers are simply going to send you an "off the shelf" Bach when you place your order. In fact, there are dealers who don't even open up the box prior to shipping to you. This means that they could be shipping you a trumpet that might have been improperly marked by the manufacturer. We have received orders marked saying that they were Bach Strads straight from the factory that were accidentaly mis-marked and in reality were intermediate models. We have also received horns that were simply not up to our expectations of what a great Bach should be. For whatever reason, the horn made it out of the factory with some flaw in its construction that either hinders its performance or just plain isn't right. Our Process With every single Bach Strad that comes in our door, they are each individually inspected by Dave Kessler. He checks the horn over for structural defects, cosmetic defects and assembly defects. He checks the vibration of the instrument to ensure that the trumpet is a responsive and vibrant horn. If a trumpet is assembled poorly, this results in uneccesary stress in the solder joints that actually hinder vibration and in turn, negatively effects the performance of the trumpet. The most important test of the trumpet for Dave is the vibration test. If a horn doesnt vibrate well itself (outside of even playing the horn), then it will not be a great playing trumpet. Any horn that fails ANY of Dave's tests is immediately sent back to Bach, period. This isn't the end though. After Dave has inspected the trumpets, the ones that pass his tests are then sent over to a professional trumpet player to be individually play tested. There are sometimes hidden flaws in a horn that will not be revealed until a play test. For instance, perhaps there is an excess amount of solder that made its way into the tube of the instrument? This would impact the air flow through the trumpet thus taking away from the ease of flow of the air. So each and every horn is play tested to ensure that they are right. If any horn does not pass the pro player's play test, it is immediately sent back to Bach, period. Your Play Test In the end, we are going to send you a Bach that in our opinion is the epitome of what a Bach Stradivarius trumpet should be. You are going to get a great playing trumpet. However, in the end we are all different people and we all have different needs. You need to be the final person in our Bach process. This is why we give you a trial period. When you get a new Bach from Kessler & Sons Music, it is accompanied by a 3 day evaluation period. Once you receive it, you have 3 days to test the trumpet yourself. If for ANY reason you are not 100% satisfied with it, you simply let us know and you send it back for a refund or exchange, your choice. End Result The end result is that when you buy a Bach Strad from Kessler & Sons Music, you are getting the best Bach that you can buy short of going to the factory and picking between several dozen. We do the leg work for you to make sure you are getting a great horn.
