KesslerMusic Yanagisawa Alto Sax Performance Upgrade Kit What exactly is the point behind a "Performance Upgrade Kit"? Well, to put it simply: to make your Yanagisawa alto perform better! Have you ever wanted a darker tone? Have you ever wanted a more focused tone (like a Mark VI)? How about a bigger fatter sound?! So many players don't realize that many if not all of these playing characteristics can be had on their Yanagisawa! This is accomplished by changing the Neck and Mouthpiece. So we have put together this "Performance Upgrade Kit" for Yanagisawa players everywhere! Our kit consists of 2 major upgrades for your horn.
-Yanagisawa Bronze Alloy #92 Neck (Value: $325) Bronze Neck
The Yanagisawa Bronze neck is the first part of this performance upgrade kit. By putting on a bronze alloy neck, you are increasing the weight of the neck on your horn. The weight change at the neck makes a far bigger percentage difference than on further parts of the body. This is because on the sax, this is the FIRST area of the horn that is in contact with the air column thus making it the most important part! The Bronze Neck gives your Yanagisawa a darker, fatter tone all while maintaining the playing charateristics that you are used to out of your stock Yanagisawa neck. This is a great upgrade even just by itself. However, the bronze neck is not going to change the volume, center, focus or cut of the sound. For that, we move on to the other part of our Performance Upgrade Kit... the mouthpiece! Theo Wanne Mouthpiece!
So many players overlook the supreme performance improvements that a mouthpiece can make. Especially considering how little they cost in comparrison to their saxophones! In fact, it is our opinion (as well as the opinion of many top rate technicians and players) that: Mouthpiece is more important than the saxophone itself! Large chambers are something that many manufacturers stayed away from on alto because typically, a large chamber on alto sax mouthpieces meant a very dull responding mouthpieces. The DURGA alto sax mouthpiece will add a rich and focused center to the core of your Yanagisawa's sound. Most people will initially look at this mouthpiece and expect it to be extremely bright because of the high raised baffle. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Theo masterfully transitions the baffle into the chamber using precision scooped side walls. This allows your air column to easily transition into the larger chamber so that you can keep excellent responsiveness without sacrificing tone. The larger body chamber is then compressed by the Durga's unique dual bore chamber design which compresses the air column before it enters the saxophone neck. The end result is that the Durga mouthpiece gives the player an extremely powerful mouthpiece that has the responsiveness of a great metal mouthpiece, but also combines it with a rich, centered tone typically associated with Mark VI altos. When combined with the Yanagisawa Bronze neck, this mouthpiece will give you cut, power, projection & focus.

WITH this Upgrade Kit! Kali Metal Alto Sax Mouthpiece
The KALI model alto sax mouthpiece is a beast to hear. Like the Durga, the Kali has a very high raised baffle. However, the difference between the 2 is that the Kali stays with the True Large Chamber all the way through until the horn. This gives the Kali a darker broadness to the sound while still remaining ultra responsive and powerful. When combined with the Yanagisawa Bronze neck, the Kali adds a fat, open, broad sound that can cut down trees with its raw power all the while maintaining an effortless playing and responding setup. The AMMA hard rubber mouthpiece is the newest creation from Theo Wanne. Made from a special hard rubber that is more akin to the hard rubber of 1940's vintage Meyer Bros mouthpieces, the Amma gives the world something that it has never seen or heard... the performance and quality of the original Meyer Bros mouthpieces but with more volume, power and projection!
