We took the "holy grail" tenor mouthpiece, a vintage Florida Otto Link metal 7 mouthpiece for our inspiration. We copied the facing of that legendary piece and applied it to our own hard rubber blank. Each mouthpiece is completely handmade and individually play tested by our expert mouthpiece technician to guarantee that every mouthpiece is a fantastic mouthpiece. The OL7Pro is a completely Hard Rubber, round chamber, and handmade. Your Custom OL7 hard rubber tenor
mouthpiece came yesterday and it's even better than I expected.
It really is the old Otto Link reincarnated. After playing my old
King Super 20 for forty years, I bought a Yamaha Custom 82Z tenor
and was a little disappointed that the sound was "drier" than my
vintage King. Nothing I tried gave me the sizzle that I used to
get. My vintage Brilhart make it sound nasal. One of the
mouthpieces I tried was an "off-the-shelf" Otto Link 7 plastic
piece and I liked the sound, but it was stuffy and didn't carry.
I reasoned that if your custom Otto Link 7 hard rubber had
similar characteristics, but produced more overtones, it was
worth a try. My hunch paid off; I'm absolutely blown away by
it. Besides giving my well-crafted, but rather sterile Yamaha
some needed "soul", your custom mouthpiece puts the buzz back,
too. It's great.
