The flute market has changed quite drastically over the past 10 years. More and more manufacturers are starting to put more effort into their headjoint design thus producing higher performance flutes while still maintaining a moderate price range. Because of this industry change, the separation in quality between the typical classifications of flutes, such as "student" and "intermediate" have become quite muddied. There are flutes that are classified as "student" that will completely outplay flutes classified as "intermediate"!
