Fox oboes are some of the most impressive performing instruments on the current oboe market. Every model that Fox makes is made to professional standards. Many would tell you (including Fox) that the 333 is a "Student" model. Even Fox's own website calls it that. However, the term "Student" is sorely misapplied in the case of the 333. Fox calls it their "Student" model because it is the least expensive model that they make. In reality, the Fox Renard 333 uses the same bore, material and mechanism design as the more expensive 330 model. The 333 and the 330 actually use the same upper joint. The difference between the two models is in the lower joint. Both the 333 and 330 feature a left hand F & low Bb. The 330 adds the articulated C# and the "banana" D-C trill. Otherwise, these two oboes are the same. The Fox Renard oboe design gives an extremely rich and resonant tone with just about the most perfect intonation available on a modern oboe.
