Super Action 80
Series II Saxophones | Series II Jubilee
Dave Kessler's
Description:
The Super Action 80 Series II saxophone is still to this day, the
most popular (in production & current use) professional Selmer Paris
model of all time. In production since 1986, it is the longest
running production of a Selmer Paris saxophone model. The Series II
is a solid horn in every aspect. While many consider the Series II
more of a symphonic saxophone, it is also a very versatile horn,
especially when customized with alternate necks. In fact, our best
selling accessory for the Series II is a Series III Goldbrass alloy
neck which adds more focus and projection while maintaining the dark
and rich tone of the II.
Revised in 2010 with the 125th "Jubilee" Anniversary of Selmer, the
Series II is continued today with the "Jubilee" Series cosmetic
enhancements. These changes replaced the original Series II
configurations as of 2011. The Series II is the most versatile of
the Selmer Paris Saxophones.

Series III
Saxophones | Series III Jubilee
Dave Kessler's
Description:
The Series III was released in 1999 and was designed to be offered
in addition to the Series II. This was the first time that Selmer
intentionally release a model with the intent of making it a
supplemental model rather than replacing a former model as has been
the previous method of releasing a new model. The Series III
features a tighter bore that gave better projection and response
than the Series II and giving a brighter tone. The Series III also
uses a lighter weight construction with Selmer's "mini-rib" (a.k.a
"split-rib") design.
Revised in 2010 with the 125th "Jubilee" Anniversary of Selmer, the
Series III is continued today with the "Jubilee" Series cosmetic
enhancements. These changes replaced the original Series III
configurations as of 2011.

Reference Model
Saxophones
Dave Kessler's
Description:
The Reference series of saxophones (tenors
released in 2001 and altos in 2003) represent the completion of
Selmer's modern design approach. With the Series II & III saxophones
offering 2 different styles of modern saxophones, the Reference was
designed to bring the characteristics of vintage Selmers into the
modern age.
These horns are not copies of their
respective referenced models but rather modern horns that were
designed with the tonal characteristics of these great vintage horns
in mind. The Reference 36 (tenor) refers back to 1936, the year that
Selmer started production of the Balanced Action models. The
Reference 54 (alto and tenor) refers back to 1954, the year that
Selmer Mark VI production started.
