In April of 1955, Vincent Bach completed and delivered six C trumpets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Four were selected by individual members of the trumpet section and purchased by the Orchestra. The remaining two were sold to a music store for individual customers. Now, almost fifty years later, these trumpets are still revered, still in use, and still the property of the Chicago Symphony. Each instrument is assigned to a specific section member. Today, however, other trumpet players are in for a treat, as Conn-Selmer has introduced the 'new' Bach Stradivarius "Chicago" C trumpet, an instrument closely based on these original designs. The model (specifically model C180SL229CC) features a #229 bell and a #25 leadpipe, but this instrument design is faithful to the original blueprints in many other details, as well.

Based on Vincent Bach's 1955 "C" trumpet designs.

Over the past few years, Bach has re-committed themselves to building the world's best trumpets. The changed many of the techniques at the factory in order to yield horns that are truly worthy of the "Stradivarius" name. Sadly, many people on the internet will attempt to misinform customers saying that the Strad is made in China, in order to discourage the customer from purchasing. This is NOT true.

Bach Stradivarius trumpets are still to this day, 100% Made in the USA. They are made in the factory in Elkhart, Indiana where they have been made for decades.

Bach has improved their build quality standards and manufacturing techniques and are now once again making one of the best trumpets, consistently, in the world. We challenge you to try the new Bach Stradivarius trumpets. You will be blown away! I (Dave Kessler) was at the Bach factory in June of 2007 and can personally tell you about the changes that they have made. Read my blog post for more about these changes!

I (Dave Kessler) personally go over every Bach Strad trumpet that comes into our store to make sure that they are up to the caliber that we advertise them to be. Honestly, every now and then we do get a Strad that has a problem. When this happens, that horn is sent immediately back to the factory. We will only keep horns that are up to the level that we find appropriate with the Stradivarius name.
