Our Kessler Custom brand of instruments has gained a great reputation in the woodwind community due to the exceptional quality, value, price and service that they offer. So we have decided to expand our Kessler Custom line to include brass instruments as well. Our Kessler Custom trumpet is truly an amazing value. The principle consideration for this horn was tone. We find that most intermediate trumpets still have a thinner, brighter tone whereas most professional trumpets feature a warmer and richer, more complex tone. We wanted to achieve a nice rich tone more in line with the professional trumpets. Our Kessler Custom trumpet has two distinct features to help us achieve our goal:
A two piece valve casing is more difficult and time consuming to produce. On most trumpets on the market, the valve casing is made from one piece of brass. With a two piece casing, you can use different materials and thus affect the performance of the trumpet. On our trumpet, we use a nickel-silver alloy for the upper baluster (upper part) of the casing. Nickel-silver is heavier than brass thus creating a slightly heavier valve casing and a slightly heavier horn. By increasing the weight at the valve cluster, you are adding the weight near the center of the horn. This allows for greater mass without drastically changing the balance and weight distribution on the trumpet. This allows for great vibration transfer while obtaining a more complex color to the tone of the trumpet. Our Resonant Bronze Bell is also featured on this trumpet to once again add weight to the horn. This special alloy increases the copper used in the alloy giving the metal a slightly darker cosmetic color while also providing a very rich tone. The taper of the bell is designed to produce great projection and tonal response. Our Kessler Custom trumpet also features all nickel-silver fittings (again for the added weight and richer tone) and alloy pistons for great valve feel and durability. We have had customers play our Kessler Custom trumpet next to handmade "professional" models that are 2-3 times the price of our horn and like our Kessler Custom trumpet better!
