What is the Sonus Sax?
Our Sonus models are unlike any saxophone being
made today. They are designed to bring in playing characteristics from all
across the saxophone spectrum; the broad & open tone of vintage American
saxophones, the focused core and projection of the great French saxophones and
modern intonation & mechanics of the best Japanese horns. These horns offer a
sound that is unparalleled by ANY other saxophone on the market!
Why make the Sonus out of "Red Brass"
Typically, saxophones are made out of the alloy
of standard "yellow brass". While the exact formulation of brass can vary from vendors and
suppliers, the typical formula is a brass that consists of 70% copper and 30%
zinc. Our Sonus Models are made from "Red Brass" which consists of 85% copper
and 15% zinc. This higher copper content produces a darker and richer tone. It
is also a little stronger than standard brass.

Our Sonus models are also equipped with several distinct
features not found on the other models in our Kessler Custom
line.
