Why Buy Your Instrument From KesslerMusic? Our price includes a complete professional setup in our Professional Shop prior to shipping to ensure that the instrument is playing perfectly when you receive it! We also include a 1 year pads & adjustments warranty at no additional charge!

Oboes can be a beautiful instrument. The oboe requires lots of practice in order to obtain a great sound. Sadly, many students are actually hindered by the oboe that they are using in obtaining this tone. This is largely due to oboe's rather high cost and difficulty to maintain. So students are given an inferior instrument in a rental program that is not performing as well as it could.

Student oboes, stripped of proper mechanisms and options commonly go in the $1700+ range brand new and have very little re-sale value while offering a new student an instrument that lacks fundamental key mechanisms that all students should have. Furthermore, intermediate oboes have now crossed typically into the $3,000-$4,000 price range from most brands which makes it very hard to get a good instrument for advancing players without investing a small fortune.

Our Kessler Custom oboe was designed with this purpose in mind:
Offer a great playing, affordable oboe with key mechanisms of professional oboes 4 times the price
Our Kessler Custom Oboe is exactly what players, parents & teachers have been waiting for!

Design
Features an advanced professional bore (inspired by Marigaux bore designs)

Material
We use a new Grenadilla & Nylon composite. This material gives the tonal warmth of a wood oboe, but helps reduce cost (compared to upper quality Grenadilla wood) and gives the stability of a plastic resin oboe. Some lower cost oboes will use Hard Rubber trying to accomplish these same features, but we opted against hard rubber due to the increased weight, and the smell that hard rubber can develop on a tighter bore instrument like an oboe (smell of sulfur). The composite that we use offers the best balance of tonal performance & response coupled with durability & affordability.

Mechanism
Based on Marigaux keywork, we employ a full conservatory key system that features all possible key options. These include:
   - Left Hand F
   - Low Bb (with vent)
   - Triple Octave (semi-automatic, US standard)
   - Articulated C#
   - Full Ring Sytem D Key
   - D-C Banana Trill
   - Left Hand G#-A Trill

The keywork of the oboe is setup mainly with cork pads for long term durability and idel tonal projection.

We also include 5 of our Kessler Custom Artist Level oboe reeds. These reeds offer an amazingly rich tone with exceptional response. These reeds rival reeds that cost $35 and more. We include 5 of them with our Kessler Custom oboe so that you can try them out for yourself. Click Here to read up more on our Artist Level oboe reeds!

If you are in need of a great oboe but simply cannot afford the $4,000+ range, then our Kessler Custom oboe is exactly what you have been looking for!

If you have any questions, or would like to place an order, please call us. You will get to speak to either Chuck Kessler or Dave Kessler personally so that you get the best service possible. Our oboes also include a 3 day in home trial period and Free UPS Ground shipping!

What does our Professional Setup do for you the customer?

No instrument comes into our shop from the manufacturers in perfect adjustment. In fact, the longer that they have sat in a storage facility or on a shops shelves, the more out of adjustment they typically are. This is due to the materials shifting due to climate as well as pads losing their seats.

Our Professional Setup prior to shipping is done to ensure that you receive an instrument that plays perfectly right out of the box. This way you get the ideal performance without having to have it "setup" by some other technician.

We have some of the lowest prices in the country on instruments, no other shop can give you this price AND this setup.

If you have any questions, please call Dave Kessler Toll Free at 1-888-830-0474 Mon-Fri 9:30-6:00 | Sat 9:30-4:00 | Sun: Closed, West Coast Time.
